Tena,
If you go to Google and search for Bible Basic Word Pronunciatons, it will take you to a screen where you click on the letter L, then click on Laodicea.
There will be a written and an oral pronunciation of her name.
Hope this helps.

My daughter is doing a project on Dicey Langston, we're in California but her big brother is in Greenville, SC as we speak so it's given that her project be on a young Revolutionary War hero as Dicey. Can anyone tell me how to pronounce her first name not her nick name of Dicey?

Hello family,

Im related but I have a road block. My Great Grandfather Barney Walter Springfield was born in Dalton Ga. in 1872 the first child of RB Springfield and Nancy Wrinkle. RB is my roadblock. He is on the 1880 federal census however none of his known information matches any of the known Roberts in the area at that time and all of the other Roberts are accounted for in the 1880 census. Can one person be two places at once ? With two seperate lives.
I am ordereing the Springfield books now thanks to this string with the information I needed to get the ball rolling and maybe they will give more clues. In the meantime if anyone knows more information or how I may obtain more information please let me know.

Thanks for your time

Hi to all my relatives I've not had the pleasure of meeting.

Thomas Springfield and Laodicea "Dicey" Langston Springfield were my 3rd great paternal grandparents.
Their son, Bennett Springfield my 2nd great paternal grandfather.
His son, James Bennett Springfield was my great grandfather.
His son, John Walter Springfield my grandfather.
His son, John Harold Springfield was my father.

My father was the only son of John Walter & Jennie Maude Jinkins Springfield.
He died in 1957 at the age of 34 years old, with me being his only child.

My aunt did some extensive research years ago into our "Family Tree". She even visited Traveler's Rest, SC years ago to see "where we came from", so to speak!

I was born and raised in Murray County, Georgia, as were my father & grandfather. I still live there today.

I would love to see any pictures of my Springfield/Langston ancestors. I'm especially interested in a picture of the house which Thomas & Dicey lived. I bet, if by some miracle, we could have a family reunion...we would fill up a lot of space or should I say States!

I am trying to figure out where Little Eden, Elder Settlement was. There is a John Elder settled that early in Union Co. near Monarch Mills. But could she have traveled across the river there taking in 20 mi and then traveled back to Laurens Co. in one night? Did she live where Langston Road is or where Langston Church is or somewhere else? Where do you think she lived and where was the Elder settlement?

I am related to Dicey and Thomas Springfield through their son James Langston Springfield...and James' wife Nancy Stiles.
Nancy Stiles was James first cousin as her mother was Dicey's sister Selah Langston who married Samuel Stiles.
Everyone related to Dicey and Thomas should have the 2 volumes "Springfield Family 1739-2001" by Joyce Howard Ellis and Ann Pollard, a compilation of many Springfield researchers.

My grandfather was Franklin Langston from the Pickens County area of South Carolina. He was married to Hattie Kay of Six Mile, South Carolina. He died in 1941. No other information about my grandfather. Do you know any of the Langston's from this area.

My mother was Margaret Ann Lacy (Weir).
Her mother (my gm) was Ona Mae Springfield (Lacy).
Her father (mygreat gf) was John Langston Springfield.
His father (my gg gf) was Bennett Springfield.
His mother (my ggg gm) was Laodicea Langston Springfield.
This is how I am related to 'Dicey.'
I have photos of John Langston Springfield and his obituary. He and his wife moved to Texas and both died and are buried about 6 miles from where I live.
This is my introduction and I am still attempting to do a lot of research to obtain photos and documentation.
Nice to meet all.
